DIY Tye Dye Converse!

Today I decided to take advantage of the super nice weather and the fact that I’m FINALLY on summer break (*fist pumps* hehe). I took a pair of my old white converse and used sharpies to tye dye them! To learn how to do this fun DIY, keep reading 🙂

The materials you will need are: any white pair of tennis shoes, sharpie colors of your choice, a syringe (plastic, etc. I found mine from an old hair treatment bottle), and rubbing alcohol

The first thing you need to do is take the shoelaces out of your shoes. This is just to make sure the shoelaces don’t turn colors as well. After doing so, take your first sharpie color and color in numerous dots in a circular shape. Keep the circles about 1 cm apart from each other that way they run onto each other when pouring the alcohol on it. Continue making the circular shape, but alternating colors every so often. I changed colors after every circle I made, but you can do this however you like.

Once you have both shoes completely colored, take your syringe and fill it with the rubbing alcohol. Squirt the alcohol over the dots on each shoe. This will cause the colors to run and give the shoes the tye dye effect. Continue to do this until the shoes look the way you want them to. If there are still white spots left, fill them in with a sharpie color of choice and squirt more alcohol on it. You can also continue to put rubbing alcohol on it to make the circles go away, but I ended up liking the way the circles looked on the shoes! Once you have them the way you want them, let them sit in the sun to dry. Then ALL DONE!! I love the way these shoes turned out. It definitely gives a hippie kind of vibe and I know they will match with ANYTHING! I can’t wait to wear these all summer 🙂

Geometric Canvas DIY

Hello lovelies 🙂

I know it has been weeks since I have last blogged and I am so sorry! My life is so chaotic right now with finals coming up and other projects I am working on. But I am back today with a really cute and fun DIY!! I have seen a few paintings that are VERY similar to this DIY in stores like Urban Outfitters, but they’re kind of pricey! This DIY costs around $6…. SUPER cheap!

diy1

The supplies you will need for this DIY are: a blank canvas, scissors, painting tape (any size, depending on how wide you want your geometric lines to be), acrylic paint (any colors), paint brushes, sponges (any sponge will work! I used a cleaning sponge from a dollar store)

diy2

First decide how you want your canvas to look. I free handed my canvas; I just took long pieces of tape and spread them randomly all over my canvas. Just remember, where you put the tape is where the canvas will be white!! You can look up designs on Pinterest or from an expensive paining already created and follow the way they do theirs. Honestly though, you can’t really go wrong with this part! It’s really up to you and how you want your canvas to look 🙂

After placing the tape, choose the colors you want your canvas to be. You can make this one color or you can do multi like I did! Pour the paint in a plastic bowl and use your sponge to dip into the paint. Because I used four different colors, I used four different sponges. You don’t have to do this, I’m just super lazy and didn’t want to have to rewash my sponge each time 😛 hehe. Dab the sponges all over the canvas. Don’t worry about getting it on the tape or staying in the lines because the tape just comes off anyway. You can do each section a different color or you can do what I did and make each section multi colored!

After painting it, take the tape off of the canvas carefully. You will now see a cute and geometric design! I absolutely LOVED this DIY. It was so much fun and so cheap! Seriously how cute is this?? Perfect for the spring and summer 🙂

Please try this DIY out and if you do send me a picture! I would love to see what you create 🙂 Again I am so sorry for the late blog post! I also want to thank so many of you for nominating me for the Liebster Award!! I love all of you so much and your kind comments and nominations mean the world to me ❤ It means so much to see that you guys enjoy my posts!

I will be back next week with another post. Stay happy and be positive lovelies 🙂 xx

Spring DIYs!!

It’s April!! The weather is getting so nice where I live and it’s making me so excited for gardening and spring showers and flowers and fruit and ugh everything! Hehe!! Today it was so nice that I had to do some spring crafts! I put together three DIY’s that are so simple and cheap to do 🙂

IMG_5094

This first DIY is super simple! All you need is a vase, flowers (fake or real), and food coloring! You literally just put the flowers in a vase, add water, and put the food coloring of choice into the water 🙂 I think it adds such a pretty touch to your desk or kitchen table! Multiple vases put together make it so pretty and tumblr!!

IMG_5102This DIY is more summery, but I just couldn’t wait!! You need a mason jar, sharpies, mod podge, and paint. For the first one I just wrote “aloha” in sharpie and painted the “o” as a flower. Once it’s dry, you cover the mason jar in mod podge with a paint brush. After doing this, you put the mason jar in the oven at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. This step makes the sharpie and paint not wash off when you put it in the dishwasher. On the second mason jar, I just painted the bottom with any light color. You sprinkle glitter on it while it is still wet, so it will stick. Then paint the rest of the jar with your color of choice. These mason jars are so cute for decorations or to put your summer/spring drink in 🙂 In LOVE with my aloha one. I know I’m going to use it all summer!!

IMG_5110IMG_5118This last DIY was so much fun to make and so simple! All you need is a canvas, paint, and different sizes of lemon and/or lime. Before I started I cut the fruit in half and used a paper towel to suck up most of the juice from the fruits. After doing this, I put different colors of paint into different paper bowls. Using a PAINT BRUSH, I put the paint on the fruit slices. You want to make sure you use a paint brush to put the paint on because if you just dip the fruit in the paint, it will get too clumpy and you won’t be able to see the outline of the fruit on your canvas! Now you just stamp the painted fruit all over your canvas anywhere you want! This turned out so cute and it’s already hanging up in my kitchen 🙂 I love!

I hope you like these DIYs and you give them a shot yourself! If you do please feel free to tag me in them because I would love to see them!! 🙂 Thank you for reading lovelies and I will be back with a post next week!! ❤ LOVE YOU!
